About Stocked Lakes
Stocked Lakes answers one question for anglers: when was my lake last stocked, and with what?
State wildlife agencies release millions of hatchery fish every year and publish records of those releases. But every state publishes them differently, and they can be hard to find. We collect those public records, clean them up, and give every stocked lake, river and pond its own simple page.
Where the data comes from
All stocking information on this site comes from official, publicly available state records. We refresh it automatically every week.
- Washington: Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. WDFW Fish Plants (data.wa.gov) (last updated 10/6/2026)
- New York: New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Fish Stocking Lists (Actual) (data.ny.gov); Current Season Spring Trout Stocking (data.ny.gov) (last updated 10/6/2026)
We are adding more states over time.
How to read the data
- Dates: some states report the exact day, others only the month.
- Sizes: some states report length in inches. Washington reports fish per pound, so lengths there are estimates.
- Planned stockings are an agency's published schedule. Weather, water conditions and hatchery issues can change them.
- Names are cleaned up from agency abbreviations (for example "LK" becomes "Lake"). If a name looks wrong, please tell us.
